Nito Blochlinger, Co-Founder and Lead Neuro Fitness Specialist
At Beyond the Chair, Nito leads a team of highly skilled exercise science professionals providing all aspects of exercise-based recovery techniques, education, and research for those living with paralysis due to spinal cord injury and many other related neurological disorders. Nito is a qualified Kinesiology professional and holds a B.A. degree in Exercise Science from Wichita State University. Nito is no stranger to the world of spinal cord injury post-traditional/post- acute exercise-based therapy, having worked nearly 9 years in the field and logging upwards to 10 thousand training hours with spinal cord injuries of all levels, as well as working with stroke, traumatic brain injury, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis and a variety of other neurological disorders.
Before establishing Beyond The Chair in 2011, Nito worked for Pressing On, a gym for neurological disorders in Texas, from 2007-2011. He was their Lead Specialist and Facility Manager. In this role, Nito was responsible for developing their entire training system, training and educating staff, implementing an internship program, and was in charge of their day to day operations.
Prior to Pressing On, Nito owned and operated FirstStep, in Dallas Texas from 2005-2007. This was a travel training SCI business before teaming up with Pressing On.
Prior to FirstStep, in 2003 Nito moved to San Diego, California where he started his career working with Spinal Cord Injuries and Neurological Disorders at Project Walk, a center specializing in spinal cord injury intensive exercise recovery.
Nito is inspired and driven to provide the most comprehensive and innovative neuro exercise science techniques, education, and research for spinal cord injuries and neurological disorders at BTC, with the ultimate goal for Beyond The Chair members to work together to maximize physical health and well-being in an effort to attain their own personal goals.
Nito has helped put together many fundraising events, attended state and national sci conferences as well as volunteering for many events and adaptive activities such as the Special Olympics, “They Will Surf Again” Event held by Life Rolls On, Rolling Inspiration Events, and the “All Can Ski” Event at Sea World.
Nito prides himself by staying current on new technologies in the SCI & neurological disorder community to ensure that his BTC members receive the best service at our state of the art facility.
